Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This is an obituary of sorts. I wont be able to ride a bike for a few months due to my job relocation. This is also a reminder.....probably something I will forget that I ever wrote before leaving......that I shall return and ride again. I hope my legs dont get too out of shape from not riding. It would suck if it took me roughly two months of training just to ride the GMR again when I come back.

Its a shame that I got to ride the GMR right before leaving. Because it is probably the best route I have ever ridden. I will miss GMR.

I wont miss SART. Its an enjoyable flat ride but its not really something that gets me excited.

I wont miss Mt. Baldy. Its too punishing and maybe after riding GMR a few times I will get in shape enough to ride up Mt. Baldy the hard way. Instead of going from Euclid.

This might also give you guys an idea of how lucky you guys are for being able to ride. Some of us have to give up our joys in life, luxuries and hobbies just to make a living.

Cycling is a beautiful sport. This isnt even close to the speech Lance Armstrong gave after winning the Tour de France, saying people should "believe in cycling," but its just my thought on how awesome cycling really is. If it wasnt for cycling I would be bored on this planet. My ex-wife didnt understand my obsession. Neither did my in-laws. But for those that do get what this is about, and that its more than just "riding a bike," then nothing else can even come close to replacing this.

I feel like a part of me is dying just because I wont be able to ride for months. I guess when I do come back I will appreciate cycling even more.

Pshaw. Unless you are going to Afghanistan, an offshore oil rig, prison, or something similar, you can always stick a trainer in your home and get the miles in!

Nice post. I've spent longer than that away from cycling for various reasons. I've always come back. Now that I have some really nice bikes, it has supplanted all my other hobbies. My motorcycle sits unused. My kayak has cobwebs. My bikes get ridden as much as I can find time.

If you're really a cyclist (and from your post, I have no doubt that you are) a few months away won't change anything.

If you love cycling so much and it makes you so happy and you still treated those people on GMR the way you did, man I feel sorry for the people you are going to work with. I pray for them, that you are NOT their boss.

I'm currently taking time off from cycling/posing now due to my current back yard landscaping/patio/outdoor pizza oven project which should continue through most of 2010.
But I still post and will continue to do so on the cycling boards as if I am riding regularly which I am not...:D
