Hi, my name is Alex, and I joined the bike forums to learn more about cycling, and modifying my bike.

I have a 99' Raleigh M30 with an upgraded fork (SR Sun Tour M6200). Anyone know anything about this bike and fork? The bike seems very study, it's lasted me well the past 5 years or so. The only problem with it is that the brakes are either not configured properly, or are fading, and I'll get to that later.

Anyway, I've been riding in some rough terrain, and I can tell that my fork (with shocks) helps quite a bit with taking impact. My bike got fairly decent reviews online, so that's reassuring.

But anyway, there are a few downsides to my bike. I may have to replace it soon, as the gear shifting "displays" are a bit shattered from a rough fall (which sadly broke my speedometer as well). Also, the bike is getting a bit too small for me, mainly the handlebars. I tried to raise them today, but with no luck, since there is no more slack apparently. The bike is a 16'.

I really like the fork and frame thus far, but if possible, could I upgrade my handlebars and other paraphenelia?

Welcome to the forums!

You may want to take your bike question and post it in the appropriate forum... ie: if you have a road bike, go to the Road Cycling forum. The majority of people who know about bikes will be there- not many will read the Introductions section, and I'd hate to see your question get unanswered!

Tell us what you want about where you're from, how long you've been riding, etc.

Again, welcome to the forums! I hope to see you posting soon!

Take care,

Koffee

You might want to take a trip to your LBS and have them check your fit. If you have outgrown the frame you might as well get a new bike and have it fit to you. If you REALLY like what you have and all of the other fit aspects fall into place then possibly some component upgrades will work. Welcome to the forums!
