Hi,

I've a Shimano Sante crank which I want to use for this build. Anyone has any idea on the chainline for these cranks (with reference to a certain BB length). I was just wondering if its the same spec as any other Shimano 105/600 crank of the day (I think its from the late 80s or so...). I've put in on the frame along with an old BB measuring 70-115 and the chainline is right about 45cm for the inner chainring and 53cm for the outer....but this is without tightening in the crank bolt as I've no means to tighten it really hard. I guess if I could tighten it, it will go a further 1-2mm into the JIS spindle? Also, will I be able to use the outer chainring if I used a 103mm BB?

I'm torn between a $200 formula/deepV and $330 dura-ace/Mavic OPs......Guess my real question is how are formula hubs in general? I have no doubt the DA with its cup and cone bearings will be smoother somewhat but is it worth that 100 buck or so more?

Just go with the ops with formulas. Formulas are very good and you can always just put better bearings in them. Very good compromise imo
