Hey,
Assuming friction mode, does anyone know if a 9 speed Shimano Tiagra cassette will work with the 8 speed bar end shifters (the Ultegra ones)? Also, does anyone know if these shifters are still available? Or if the 9 speed Dura Ace ones are still avaiable?
Thanks!

In friction mode, the 8 speed barcons will definitely shift a 9spd cassette. You can buy the 9psd DA barcons still from many online sellers including JensonUSA and bikebling.com for around $65. I have also seen the 8spd Ultegras for sale for a bit cheaper.
As a side note: I think the DA 9spds will be around for a while longer as they have become popular with certain mountain bikers who use them in conjuction with Paul Thumbies.

Even more popular among the touring crowd.

Sorry should have mentioned I'm looking for them from any European-based shop. All my favourite UK online shops are out of stock with no sign of when they will return. I could just try my LBS but I was hoping to pick them up cheap.
May as well ask too - would the 10 speed dura ace work ok with a 9 speed cassette (again assuming friction).
Thanks!

Yes. Friction 10 will work with the 9spd cassette.

I didn't have a problem buying the 9spd DA type last week. In fact, I called 3 shops and all 3 (JensonUSA, Performance Bike, and BikeBling.com) had them ready to ship out or for me to come by and pick them up. Ebay also seems to have a few sets up for auction consistently. While I can't say for certain what the Toronto or Dublin areas have for local pickup, there are definitely sites that have them and will mail them in a timely manner.
