In my long quest to find a replacement shock for my old school GT MTB  I scored a New/Old stock Rock Shox Indy S. The only problem is the steerer tube is too long, about 2" too long.

I was wondering if it would be possible to cut the tube and use a threadless headset to mount it or hace the threads run down so that I could crank it tight normally?

I'd love to use the forks as they are for cantilever brakes. I have a set of Suntour forks but they require me to change my brakes, shifter, ect. which will cost more money. I am trying to do this as inexpensivly as possible too.

Thanks in advance :thumb:
