Pretty friggin' sweet. It's my size too! Why do I have to be poor?

400 smackers will get you a lifetime (hopefully) of kicks though...it's worth it, in my opinion.

I've been thinking about trying to build up an old track frame. At least I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. Do you think it would be hard to find parts for it?

that peugeot? if you wanted to go super old school and get traditional parts, maybe? but ebay is a wonderful tool. the only thing you might have trouble with is finding period-correct rims.

yeah i saw that frame today, too. small world.
i too, am looking for a frame, although $400 for just the frame is a little out of my price league. how would an old track frame like this one compare to an old-ish lemond or bianchi road frame for turning into a fixie?

I might see if I could talk him down, $400 seems pretty steep.

it's got nice dropouts, nice lugs, nice paint details, nice decals, logos intact. $400 with the bottom bracket seems fair to me. i wouldn't go below $375 on it if it was me.

Don't Peugots have some weird funky BB or something? If so that would be my biggest worry. Where to get a replacement if the one it comes with tanks. it is a pretty bike.

Which Phil Wood can cover:

i had never seen a peugeot track frame either until this last weekend at the masters nationals. the one i saw looked like it was made in the 80's. just white with black stays and the 80's peugeot logo. that one on craigslist is hot.

i have peugoet from that period and surprisingly the bottom bracket is not french threading.

Since I can't see the frame, I can't date it-- the listing is gone.
Peugeots 1979 and earlier had French threading in the bottom bracket and headset. For a brief period around 1980, some Peugeots were Swiss threaded in the bottom bracket; same thread pitch as French, but with the fixed cup reverse threaded. Sometime in the 80's, Peugeot switched over to English threading. You can replace French BB's several ways (phil woods, tapping out the BB shell to italian, sakae still makes French BB cups, combination phil woods rings/shimano UN72 BB). Not an insurmountable problem; neither is the french HS.
