I have an Edge 705 which I use and love and picked up a Nuvi 205w recently. The Nuvi has a bike mount which I ordered and haven't received yet. I'm curious about whether it's viable or not on a bike specifically in weather. The idea of a huge touch screen is desirable but I'm unsure whether it's a distraction or not.
Also the mount concerns me. Basically the unit mount is the same it looks like to me. It's not real difficult to remove my Nuvi from the car mount and I'm thinking a decent speed bump or pothole might have the same effect.

I don't have a Garmin, but I have a handlebar mount for my Mio C320, which has a 4.2" color touch screen. I don't always put it in the handlebar mount (sometimes I keep it in it's case in my panniers), but I always have it with me when I ride. I find it very useful; I've got it running MioPocket, which essentially turns it into a PIM, which also allows me to install other CE-based software. In addition to the MIO navigation software, I've got Ozi Explorer CE, which is great for off road use (I downloaded the USGS topo maps for the national forest that I live in--most of the forest roads aren't on any of the commercial GPS software). When I'm heading somewhere I haven't been before and I want navigation instructions, I use the txt-to-speech functionality of the MIO so I don't need to look down at the screen. If I need to look at the screen to get my bearings, I'll pull over and stop.

Not a Nuvi, but I've used a iQue 3600 with a RAM mount and had no issue with it coming lose. Only issue was it kept trying to route me to the freeway!

I also have a 250W and bougt the RAM mount for it on ebay.com (there was no mount for the wide version from Garmin at the time).
I've used it several times and it works very good. Doesn't come loose :)
If it rains... you're f*cked I guess... Always be sure to carry a plastic bag with you when you expect rain.

I use my Garmin NUVI 250 on my Honda roadbike and street legal dirtbike. works great. I've recently gotten back into cycling and hope to use it this year on my bicycle.
