I'm looking for a new bike to replace/supplement my mountain bike. I'd mostly be doing recreational road riding with possibly some touring at some point. I'm really taken with the Specialized Roubaix series. Would they be able to function as a decent touring bike? The lower models have steel frames and the Comp has a carbon fiber frame. Thanks.

I don't know much about touring, but unless things have changed, I seem to recall the need for racks to hang lots of stuff from your bike... not sure how you would do this on the roubaix....
That being said, its a GREAT bike... light, fast and comfortable...

Isn't there a way to way to hang panniers, etc. without brazed on rack fittings? I thought I heard something about that...
