I got my wheels(DP18s) literally about 30 minutes ago. The box felt very light to me as I have been using the stockwheelset on my $200 complete(Dawes?) bike from Ebay. Below are some photos of how I received the package.

The rear wheel had a protective flat attachment, the other side did not. I'm not sure if I should expect this to have damage the hubstuff in any way, probably not, or if I should notify Bell's Bikes. Otherwise they wheels look great. They are still in the plastic just in case.. waiting for VeloPlugs anyhow.

Ha...I've never seen a wheel box show up without holes in it. In fact, the two wheelsets I've received recently (one from Bell's, one from Velo Mine) were in boxes that were practically destroyed. I'm sure they're fine. If not, they're on FedEx.

Oh. Cool. I really just wanted to show you guys my cool new wheelset anyway. By the way the did not honor your name and give me free rim tape. Haha.

Wrong, I ordered a wheelset from our sponsor and the box arrived in perfect condition.

"Wrong", how? Does what you've gotten somehow play a part in what I've experienced?
The condition of the box when it arrives has much more to do with how it was handled (or mishandled) during shipping than where it came from.

An undamaged box would be the exception, not the rule.

Did you really though? Because you just posted pictures of the box damage...I still don't even know what your new wheels look like.
Man, there's some posters in here that really need to get laid.

Hey OP, the way you went about this is total BS! If there is ANY problem contact Bell's and don't bring this up in a public forum. Do you really think they sent out a damaged box??
I live in Philly and Bell's is the BEST shop in the city!

I don't even live in Philly and think Bell's is one of the best shops to deal with.
I'm surprised to see they didn't use caps on the nuts to keep them from punching through the box wall. Last wheelset I bought, the boxes were pristine, although they shipped the wheels in two separate boxes. Not to mention, this was through UPS, which I found amazing for even the boxes to be undamaged.
If there is no damage to your wheels.. :thumb: and enjoy them :D
I'm surprised they didn't hand deliver these with naked ladies.

I've used that service. While it's pricey, the missus said it's ok for important deliveries.

I live in Philly and had a bad experience with Bells, they treated my like I was about to steal a bike from them or some ****, a week later I found out I was going to be doing OT at the Firehouse that they used to be right next door to, so I paid them a surprise visit, they didn't recognize me so I reminded them, I also bought along my then $2500.00 MTB that I bought at Jays, fun times, fun times.

That story's hardcore. You should get an agent.

Truth be told I never bought anything from them, either at location or thru the mail, they may have changed, I don't know as I've never been back.
I've bought two pairs of wheels from Bicycle Wheel Warehouse. Both came with each wheel in its own undamaged box, and both came with free rim tape.

I got a pair of wheels a couple of weeks ago from Bicycle Wheel Warehouse- the boxes were in perfect condition, there were caps on the fixed hub nuts, rim tape was included and they threw in a free water bottle.
When I ordered my wheels from Bell's they sent me a smoked ham, a bottle of scotch, a puppy, and a stripper. The box was in perfect condition.

I bought my wheels from Bell's. The wheels were true and their customer service was excellent.
Putting pics up on the internet instead of calling them and hashing things out with them first is kind of a jackass move, especially since you haven't said ANYTHING about the condition of the wheels, other than "they look great."
If they're straight and unscratched, why are you complaining?

'cause he bought them for the box! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyOtDghulbs
I once bought a set of wheels from them. They were completely destroyed during shipping. I opened the box and the basic elements that they were made of came out in a cloud of dust. The box was in perfect condition.

I've purchased 3 wheelsets online, from 3 different sources. Each came in undamaged boxes, with caps on both hubs.

This thread, while it may have started off on the wrong foot to begin with, has officially become awesome.

When did I ever complain? I was just asking if I should tell them how their wheelsets are arriving at peoples' doors.. I knew they weren't at fault. I am not discouraging anyone from buying from Bell's Bike Shop in any way.
You can stop posting here now.
EDIT: haha, just in time

No. You don't wanna do that. Bell's people would be confused, because the handling during shipping isn't under their responsibility. They might exchange that cheapo set for you, but is that wheel set worth so much to wait few more weeks? I think you will be unhappy with the results.
I would just ride em till you break em. You are gonna be having so much fun, you are gonna forget about the issue in few days.

I always have my buddy Spock transfer my wheels via his particle ray. No need for boxes.

No real need if the wheels aren't damaged. If you tell them, they'll tell Fed Ex and the monkeys who pack the trucks and drive for them will continue to throw boxes around.

When I was a kid, new bikes always had those plastic axle end covers. Your bike wasn't "broken in" till those were torn up and gone. My last set of wheels were shipped with these little covers and they had a big piece of cardboard taped to them to keep the axles from punching through the box.
consider yourself lucky. Check out some of the shipping boxes (or lack of ) these bikes arrived in. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?506125-Worst-eBay-frame-packaging-ever&highlight=worst+ebay

My wheels came in separate boxes, packed impeccably, caps on both hubs, with no damage to the boxes.
