Great Lakes - Cycling has ruined my life. Again.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just finalized plans to head to Arizona in March for Brewer Spring Training with "the boys".
Before I started riding, I'd be pumped to go see the games, get some autographs, party with my buds, and check out chicks by the pool.
Instead all I can think about is the riding I will be doing. While my friends are golfing, I'll be riding. While they are up late whooping it up, I'll be going to bed early so I can get up and ride.
They will come back with fun stories and VD, and I will come back with sore quads and pictures of the greater Phoenix area. Thanks a lot to this stupid sport.

True! :))
But think of all the money you'll save on penicillin.

At least life isn't ruining your cycling.
Tell your friends to google "cycling is the new golf."
Who knows, with your luck maybe you'll meet someone out on a ride.
PS, WTF is your avatar? I must be seeing it wrong but for some reason it looks to me like a giant eyeball thing.

Not sure the wife would like it if I met someone out on a ride, OR got VD. I'll be a good boy.
Avatar is a bunny with a pancake on its head. It says "I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's a bunny with a pancake on its head". It comes in handy as an email attachment sometimes.
Anything I should know about renting a bike...I've never done it before? I'll have my own saddle, shoes, pedals and helmet. I suppose I'll bring my own bottles too.

Saddle Sores are the new VD. Protection is paramount.
Get some DZ Nuts and protect your junk.

Contrary to popular rumor, it IS ok to do something besides ride. Enjoy the games. Think of them as a way to allow your legs to recover! And why would you miss out on seeing wonderful ladies by the pool? The only problem comes when your legs are better than theirs! If you shave, you can share horror stores. Just don't let your buddies check out your legs. :notamused:

You'll be alive long enough to do all those things long after they are all dead.

Update: Riding in Phoenix was very disappointing. I guess I am spoiled by endless country roads here.
There is no "country" there. The city just ends with a few highways heading out of town. I rode maybe 20 miles and it was a very un-relaxed urban ride. I probably clipped in/out more times on that ride than I will here in the next month. I gave up after the first day.
Weather was fantastic, but good riding was tough to find. Overall a fantastic trip though...very nice area, just not a biking paradise.

"just not a biking paradise."
No, that would be Tucson!
