I know that there is the Tour of Hope that LA promotes in the States, and I always wondered if there was something like that up here in Canada. Until I stumbled across this...

BMO Tour for Kids (http://www.tourforkids.com/index.asp)

It starts this weekend. I'm not making excuses as I would really love to participate in an event like this, however it starts this weekend, and I haven't done anything at all to prepare for it (my fitness is no where near where I'd like it to be). The idea, concept and cause really has me interested and I'd like to make a goal to participate next year in the entire 4 day 800 km ride. My wife will think I'm freakin' crazy! The entry fee of $250 to me doesn't sound too unreasonable considering what you get like vehicle support, in some stops lodging, food etc. Raising the minimum pledge of $500 seems like a bit of a tumbling block though, as I've never felt comfortable about asking people for money so I can ride in an event. Anywho, I think although challenging this could be a lot of fun.

<<<BUMP>>>

What? Nobody has any thoughts on a stage ride like this? Has anyone done one similar anywhere else especially in the US. Any points tips or hints for preparation, what did you learn? Come on, some one has to have an opinion on this. :)

And don't give me any flack about the cost. For what you get and support behind it I'll say it's worth it. And it goes towards a cause I willingly support.

hey im not the only one that saw this a little too late...i also plan on doing it next year. I know what you mean about the whole $500 min pledge thing though. but im sure once you tell people how far it is you are going they will be throwing money at you:D.
i think that its going to be my big goal for next year. do you know how fast the rides are by anychance? the site always goes nuts on me so i can never get a chance to see if its on there.

yeah man! I'm already planning a two week vacation period around it. Give me time to recover to go back to work on the following Monday. :)
