OK, so I'm gonna buy a Giant OCR 3 sometime soon. I realize the components aren't the greatest on it, but I can't afford anything of higher quality just yet (hope to get a campy group some day). Is something really bad going to happen to my bike because of these lower quality components? Am I going to spend so much money in repairs it'll equal a new group?

Thanks :)

Nothing that should affect the bike. In reality, if the components are set up correctly and adjusted they should work just fine for thousands of miles. Even SORA. If some piece fails it usally doesn't take anything else with it.

g'day,

A question like this, one assumes you are relatively inexperienced, (which isn't a bad thing!)....At this stage, i be more worried about getting & riding the 'roadie' than already worrying about gruppo upgrades. All Shimano & Campy gruppos work fine for the job they are designed to do......plenty of time,( & money to be spent!), later worrying about what gruppo you have,

cheers,

Hitchy

Listen to this guy, great advice! :)

Oh and one more thing...don't ever talk about your bike like "It's ONLY" It's YOURS be happy with it! (Or will be yours...)

When your out there huffying and puffying as someone is passing you then and only then blame it on the bike :P

your bike wont dismantle itself because of the components. if anything does fall off, its just normal wear and tear.
