That was sort of the last funny era of SNL.

Oh stop.
They've been saying that for 25+ years. Perpetually incorrect. The current cast is actually very good, at times hilarious. That's how the show has always been. 25% terrible, 50% mediocre, 15% funny, 10% brilliant. Plus the cool live music.
If the show was as bad as all these idiots seem to think, why is it still on the air after 35 years?

I can't believe I agree completely with pcad! KP, check out "Shy Ronnie" at NBC.com and tell me that they still don't do funny stuff.

KP, check out "Shy Ronnie" at NBC.com and tell me that they still don't do funny stuff.Oh, they still have a funny skit every now and then, but you can't reliably watch an entire episode the way you used to be able to. They must know the rest of the show isn't funny, because the good one per episode is usually first. It's really sad.
I realized they were in serious trouble when Jimmy Fallon was the only funny member of the cast, and it wasn't because of his talent so much as he would bust up laughing at the drop of a hat. I liked Amy Poehler but it was kind of painful to watch someone that talented have to deal with that heinous writing and supporting cast.
Glad to see Chris Elliot's daughter is following in her family's footsteps, hope she finds a better showcase for her talent.

Wrong answer. There's always other programming. If it didn't pull ratings, it would have been in the dustbin of network history 20 years ago.

You are so incorrect on so many levels it doesn't warrant a response. At least you're consistent, this seems to be the case with every one of your opinions.

I shaved a downward-pointing arrow in your wife's back hair so you'd know where to stick it. :thumb:

I was thinking of him yesterday, the skit with him as Sinatra, calling Sinead O'Connor "Cue ball", and telling Billy Idol (played by Sting) "I got chunks of guys like you in my stool".

great, deadpan delivery. watched so i married an axe murderer last night. his performance as a former alcatraz prison guard
turned alcatraz tour guide/park ranger is always a highlight.
Had a small part in 'Blind Date' (Willis/Basinger), but nobody else could have done that part.
Hartman brought insanity into the American middle class, and made them comfortable with it.

He also did a great job in NewsRadio. He made Bill McNeil an interesting character.

Hartman's Bill Clinton was hilarious. Couple of sketches come to mind.
One where he's out jogging in his Arkansas sweats, stops in at the local McD's, and starts eating food off of everyone's tray.
The second was the Real Stories of the Highway Patrol where his Clinton's in the squad car with a floozie and the trooper gets a call on the radio from Hillary as to the governor's whereabouts. Confused as to what to do, the trooper shoots his own leg and Hartman's Clinton gives him the big smile from the backseat.
Third is the COPS parody where they show up for a domestic disturbance and Hartman's Clinton is all beat up. Cop: "What happened to you?"
Clinton: "I fell down the stairs."
Cop: "She hit you again, didn't she?"
Clinton: "She loves me..."
Oh yeah, he also portrayed Ronald Reagan as a doddering old man in public, but behind closed doors was completely lucid and in control.
Hartman was awesome.

Tarzan / Jane, I was making ethereal connections there, Mr. CanOnlySeeThingsOneWay97. Seeing as how Tarzan was referenced by the OP, I stand behind my Jane comment.

I liked him on the News Radio too. That last episode where Mathew is walking around telling people Bill is really in a submarine was painful to watch.
