Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Options for lowering brake cable?

I'm new to the dance so bear with me. I have a mid 80s Schwinn Probe converted SS. I had a builder create some custom bull horns from some mtb bars and had them installed. The rear brake was deleted and the front brake lever was relocated to the middle of the bar. Long story short, I had an accident a couple months ago and got the lever relocated to the end of the bar but the brake cable sticks out over the bike like the St. Louis Arch since it needs to stay straight. It seems that the custom nature of the bars can't accomodate the cable under the bottom of the bar since it is a custom job. I like the new home of the lever but not crazy about the cable sticking out. Are there any possible options for lowering the cable or am I due for a set of newer tt/aero bars for more working room? Picture to come if my description is hard to decipher and get a mental picture of.

Pics would really help here, but I'm guessing buying a pre-made handlebar (http://bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_STOR20.cgi?Action=Details&ProdID=1538) and a brake lever that uses internal cable routing (http://bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_STOR20.cgi?Action=Details&ProdID=165), is the solution that you're looking for, although you may get buy with just the brake lever.

Aero lever, route cable under tape, get a cable hanger that mounts at the headset.

You need to keep looking.

I doubt those aero levers are going to work with that handlebar. Maybe if you cut a little more off of each end it'll work. If it was my bike I'd use a cycle-cross lever on the flat part of the handlebar.

I like the headset cable hanger if you plan on keeping the canty brakes. I never liked routing the cable housing through the stem.

I hope that you didn't pay too much for that handlebar. It looks to me like a chopped and inverted road handlebar.

I got the problem taken care of today. The cable was rerouted and is located under the tape now on that side of the bar/

You paid someone to do what again? Make you some handlebars from MTB Bars? Why? What practical use does it add? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm really just trying to understand your reasoning.

I wanted some bullhorns but didn't know what ones would be ideal for my bike so I had someone just play around with it and make some. I didn't like the regular bars that were on the bike originally.

You really don't want to delete the rear brake from an SS.
