The Bengals are doing there best to make them feel welcome right now. (14-7 Jets, Cincy going nowhere, middle of 2nd qtr)

You can not argue about that. However, the Colts always do that.

Not nearly as stupid as your implication that the Jets did not win those two games. They did. Convincingly.

Not for nothing, but Manning played well into the Q3, and there is absolutely no guarantee he would have rallied the Colts past the NFL's best defense (look it up).

The flip side of that 'stupid' decision to rest starters is that NE wide receiver who blew every friggin ligament in his knee in a meaningless late season game when they didn't rest him. That strikes me as considerably stupider.

If he's lucky that injury won't end his whole friggin career.

By the way, if B. Edwards hadn't dropped that PERFECT TD PASS from Sanchez in the first half (it bounced off his numbers), Sanchez would have had a HUGE first half. As it was, he only really threw one marginally intercept-able pass, managed the team like a seasoned pro, and threw a great TD pass in the 2nd quarter. Impressive so far.

...NFL's best defense (look it up).

They should have the #1 defense. They get to play the Bills and the Dolphins twice (which they managed to lose three of somehow), the Raiders, Bucs, and two teams that didn't bother to show up.

See you don't get it. I really agree with you in some respects. I don't even think the Jets should even BE in the playoffs. Any games they win in the post season are a huge bonus for Jets fans and for the franchise in particular. Bear in mind that NEVER in the history of the NFL has a rookie QB and coach ever MADE it to the post-season, much less made it past the first round. Did you see how Sanchez played tonight? That's how he is capable of playing. The Jets pick up one or two players, Sanchez plays to his potential and the team plays to their strengths, they have a very bright future. This is where we probably disagree: I strongly feel the current NY Jets are truly capable of beating any team in the NFL in any given game, and they are the underdogs with nothing to lose or prove. They have a great defense, which is like great pitching in baseball. Hey, sounds just like that no-respect Giants team that beat New England in the Super Bowl two years back.

The two impressive performances tonight: Sanchez, who played like an all pro. Jay Feely, the Jets place kicker who had to substitute as their punter starting early in the game. He did a GREAT job punting for the Jets.

The summarize: can the Jets go all the way to the Super Bowl and win that game? Long shot perhaps, but absolutely. Will it matter if they lose next week? As a Jets fan, looking back on this season, today's result makes the 2009/2010 season a resounding success regardless. It's fun watching them thinking they can go all the way, and I do think that could happen.

I'm telling you, a team like that is dangerous in the playoffs. Great D, no respect, nothing to prove or lose. Of course that's why they play the games. I'm not saying they are likely to win, I'm saying they have a substantial chance to win. The Jets are not pushovers. All this 'they have the #1 D because of their schedule' stuff is just silly. You can play that game with any team about any statistic.

Look, the Jets had the #1 D in the NFL this year combined with the #1 Rushing Game in the AFC. The only real weakness on their team was turnovers, and if Sanchez plays like he has the last three games and the Jets don't throw interceptions they will probably win the turnover difference in these games. Teams that do that win 84% of post-season games going back 20 years.

At least they'll make it interesting.

As long as its not the Cowboys. I'm hoping for the Saints but they haven't looked good lately. If the Chargers make it against the Saints, Vikes, or Cards at least a team will win that has never won a Super Bowl before.

I'm hoping it's not the Cowboys myself, but they have been playing very well lately. The Saints have looked pretty vulnerable lately, but then, so did the Cardinals before Sunday.

I detest Jerry Jones, but I love the Cowboys and I think that you will see them in the Superbowl, based on their last three games. They really seem to have it all together this year. No locker room pariahas, malcontents or rabble rousers have surfaced. Play calling seems to be well thought out, varied and effective, esp. on offense. Defense seems balanced and energized and does not appear to have any major holes, other than possibly depth in the defensive backs if we have an injury.

Wow, that was way too serious, I need to go have a glass of donkey punch and some quail pie now.

BTW, Namath looked hot in pantyhose.

^^^What a difference a few weeks makes. Not long ago everyone thought they were about to falter in December again and Wade Philips would get fired. Now they're media favorites to go to the Super Bowl. Additionally in their favor is as good as they've been, the Vikes and Saints have arguably been that bad.

jsharr
01-12-10, 11:08 AM
Agreed. Though the start to their December was lackluster to say the least, they finished strong and seem to be peaking at the right time. They have not just won games, they have been dominant in almost every aspect. I do not like the penalty yardage the Cowboys have accrued, but other than that, it is hard to find fault with them right now.

Also, blue and silver is so much better looking than green and white.

Winning the Super Bowl seems to have more to do with how your team is playing in December and January than the overall W-L record during the regular season.

I rooted for the Yankees. Hard not to like that team. It's their fans that make me wretch. Regardless, they are from NY, and the rest of MLB can totally go Eff itself. One way or another, that trophy belongs in NYC.
