Information, please?
At the second Control stop for the Rainbow 200 Brevet today, we got reports of a rider down (not from our group) in the Elfin Forest/Harmony grove area. The story was that his forks failed and he went down, narrowly missing being hit by a vehicle.
Initial reports (one of our riders, who assisted initially, is an RN) indicated that he had road rash, no head injury and was walking around. A later report (from another rider, who is an EMT) indicated that the rider died in the ambulance.
Does anyone know any more details?

I don't know much about the aftermath, but I did see the accident. A very large group of Swamis guys were flying through Elfin Forrest and it appeared some guys on the back end of the pack rubbed wheels or bumped and lost control. I saw them start to go down as they passed us and heard, but didn't see, them hit the ground. It sounded bad, like they need news bikes kind of bad. Traffic stopped and as we passed the fire station the ambulance was pulling out.

Thanks. We were trying to figure out if there were two incidents or only one.
One report indicated it was a single rider down, another that it was a group -- but both seemed to be in the same general area.

Sorry for the delay. Rider (at least the one I knew who crashed) was from the Swami's group. Just crossed wheels. He's got a nice helping of road rash but is recovering fine. Too bad carbon doesn't repair itself...

He's a UCSD rider, and so am I.
