They've cheezed me off. What are the alternatives that the Fooverse is using?

Slacker Radio.

Much better than Pandora.

Vacuum packed and sealed plastic, Much better than any box out there.

FlyCast. It records to your SD card with the paid version.

Last FM

Well, from the responses so far, slacker radio and last.fm appear to be contenders. They both provide artist/track (and if room allows) the album info in the tab. Pandora didn't that I noticed.

Slacker appears to be more intuitive on musical tastes based upon the artist, even without creating an account.

Last.fm also does videos and offers free mp3 downloads. But it has a slight P2P vibe to me, which I don't want.

You got a link or URL address? I did a search and came up with a bloggish ad for an iPhone app. And trying flycast.com, well, the status bar in my FF said it was loading data from sales.liveperson.net (or was it .com?).

Are you using a Blackberry? Flycast.fm Tour, Storm, Bold and Curve only. I love it. It also plays your library.

Um, no. I have a media phone, but no Crackberry.

Bummer. I tried Pandora, Slacker, XPlay (I think that's the name) and one more I can't remember and they were all less that what I get from FlyCast. If you ever get a Blackberry, try it out. It's a great app.

I signed up with them way back when it was MSN radio powered by Pandora. Since then, I have been enjoying virtually ad free, unlimited streaming audio. Until now, apparently. The free ride seems to be over.

I was listening in one tab, while here in BF in another tab. Music stopped as it usually did due to "inactivity" (I pick a station and just let it play). This last time it informed me that my 40 hours of free music is up, and that I must now pay to play, or come back next month.

Wife suggested that I just stream one of the local radio stations. I get enough of the local airwaves between the commute and while at work. And I can't justify the expense of sat. based hardware/service.

The same thing happened with Yahoo IM's Launchcast. When they switched to CBS as a provider, it went down the crapper. I had 'rated' 10,000+ songs/artists/albums over 4+ years and had a fantastic "My Station". With CBS, Launchcast lost many great features and gained ads. That's why I switched to Pandora. But Pandora used to be good before the regular ads. I see it's gotten even worse. Last FM has an ad upon startup but that's it. It too will time-out if you haven't clicked on anything for a while (an hour?). That said, I discovered many wonderful artists on Yahoo Launchcast & Pandora that I probably would've never heard of.

I've been using pandora for a while but yeah...I'd like something different. Thanks for the growing list of others. I feel a change in the air.

Last.fm is pretty good, but the songs are just randomly selected by the computer based on perceived similarity to the artist you started with.

If you want something where the playlist is put together by a real human being, there is also live365.com. There appear to be stations for just about any genre/subgenre of music on the planet, so it is good if you taste in music is outside the mainstream. I have been listening to the station "Radio DuJour" all afternoon, and have yet to hear the same song twice.

I gave up on the free services and bought a Zune HD.

I stream Pandora at work via an app on my wife's old 2G iPhone. I turn it on when I get to work at 8:30, and off when I leave at 5:30, and have no problems at all.

The only issue I have with it is that they tend to repeat songs fairly frequently, depending on how I set up the "station" I want to hear.

i like to use di.fm mainly because they have a huge selection of different electronica but if your not into that type a music it might not be what your looking for.

Pandora on devices is unlimited and ad-free. Use a Roku box or one of the many Blu-ray players that have it.
