On my most recent mini-tour I got in an accident and bent my OE CrossCheck fork. I didn't even notice til many hours and several almost accidents with crazy toe-overlap that my fork had bent backwards. Fortunately my wheel was perfectly fine. I was able to complete the trip without issues but now I want to replace my bent fork. I was able to find a used OE CrossCheck fork for relatively cheap but was wondering if I should look for something else instead of just getting the same fork again?

I've read of a few people using LHT forks but I won't mind using a clamp later on when I'll need front panniers.

Keep in mind that I'll be using my bike as my roadie, occasional dirt, and touring bike.

Thanks for the help folks.

What would "something else" do for you that OE would not? Considering the multiple uses you have for this bike, best to stick with OE and clamp on a front rack when you need it. I use a Nashbar low rider that is dirt cheap and rock solid.

I think the 2010 cross checks are going to have threaded bossed on the fork. I'd check with surly and wait for those to come out if I were you.

+1, for Surly Travelers Check. So Surly web site suggests.
Only reason I know is that we have been thinking about a couple of travelers checks
