i am not really concerned with the worth of this bike....i feel what i paid was fine and have no interest in selling it.....my problem is that i can't seem to find any information on a date of production....

assuming it was a custom build...it has no serial number.....and honestly no identifily marks other than 'Ron Cooper', a cinelli bottom bracket casing and campy drops.....its a dream to ride and beautiful bike....

i'm just wanting to know any information as to the basic timeline in which it may have been built

some pics....

(mine is the white one)

perhaps someone here might notice a consistency in the lugging/writing style..etc etc or if not perhaps point somewhere where i may be able to find some info....

thanks

I not a Ron Cooper expert by any means, but the general frame characteristics (i.e. short dropouts, recessed brake nuts, dual bottle bosses, pump peg, single loop brake tunnels, clamped front derailleur) suggest mid to late 1980s. Do you know the tubeset? That may provide an additional clue. Nice bicycle.

unless someone knows of some weird nook and cranny where they would put some mark....no...i assume its Reynolds....but i only base that on the fact that he is an English builder

thanks for the compliment....

Perhaps the world champion stripes are a clue? I think I have only seen them on your Ron Cooper. Mine has a serial number on the fork steerer as well as the bottom bracket shell. You might want to check next time you have it apart. But I don't know that a SN will help with dating it anyway, I haven't located a registry. Mine is 00069 and from around 1970. Nice bikes!

This frame has the stripe, too. Now if I could remember how I found the picture...

That's a relatively modern frame. 853 was introduced in 1995.

I wonder when the script decal that the black frame and the OP's bike share came into use?

thanks all for looking....

i'm not that savvy when it comes to frames...but can say that on my bike i'm riding a 10 speed cassette and have put an 11 speed on it to see if it fits....and it does with ease...which just made me think it may be from the 90's
