Foo - Pampering yourself

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I'm not sure if it's my age (43) and my own sense of mortality, if it's the constant barrage of commercials selling luxury, or if it's because my financial position is better than what it was a few years ago, however I'm finding myself focusing my purchases more and more on items that allow me to pamper myself. From the goose down duvet and pillow on my bed to the bath salts I recently bought. I mean come on, I've never even thought of buying bath salts before. What gives :wtf: I'm even starting to stock wine ... and I can't tell you why  I think I may need an intervention ... or I could just lay back in a soothing hot tub with the aromatic sent of wild flowers wafting from the bath water, whilst I sip on my glass of wine.
At what age did you start conciously pampering yourself and how?
OK, now I'm off to the "2010-The HE Decade!" thread so I can expound the meaning of what it is to be a real man ... after I have my soaker tub :innocent:
Who left the closet door open?
Actually though, life is too short to drink cheap wine or scotch.
I was about 40 when I realized that..

Been about forever. Enlish Lavender is brisk but relaxing and still old school manly, like Bay Rum is. French Lavender is for the ladies...
Lately however I decided to HTFU so I've been using:

Smells like its 1890 again.

Yeah, I think I was around 40ish when it started. At 47 now this place looks like a spa...I'm worse than my wife.

Just a wee youngster here at 36, but I get all my head shaving supplies at The Art of Shaving (http://www.theartofshaving.com/). I use a lavender pre-shave oil, and lavender shaving soap applied with a silvertip badger brush. Sometimes, you just have to admit to yourself that you're worth spending money on.
Nothing like a nice hot shave after a good shower! The shaving lather haz to be hot! I use my best fragrant shaving soap, Mama Bears Lime Ice (http://mamabearssoaps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1) is my favorite, my favorite shaving mug and a freshly stropped razor. Afterwards my favorite aftershave and an aftershave balm when the weather is dry. Shaving is a ritual for me.
Makes me feel like a new man!

You "guys" should go out and buy a six of Bud cans, and watch a football game. Your in serious danger of losing your man-card.

Haha. I don't think there's anything in the "guy code" which says the only way to do things right is the cheapest and least pleasant way possible. Especially in the case of Big-e's shaving ritual, since that's a straight razor he's wielding in the photo. It takes a set of brass clackers to put one of those to your neck for the first time.
I moved to whole blood from plasma. Much more satisfying.
You guys talked me into it. I'm going to start using hot water when I shower and shave.

I pampered myself recently. I let the gf cut my hair rather than my usual taking the shaver to it and letting it grow out.
in my early 40s; mortality did it for me (translation: "what the hell am i waiting for??")
Having been inspired by this thread, I now vow to buy toilet paper and throw away the three shells.

The man card review board can go stuff itself.
As the "Hi Puba of the Grand Council in Charge of Ceviewing of Man Card Issuances" we stuff other things, not ourselves.

You need to stuff the study hall.

What, did the live grenade with the pin out make you nervous?
No, I just had some dingleberries left over when the grenade went off. I find cactus does a better clean-up job.

I quit shaving my face a couple of weeks ago. Had some compliments. To me, however, it looks like I rolled my face in pine needles.

I don't think so. I just checked my man-card and it clearly states the expiration date as being 01/12/10. Oh crap, is the first set of digits the month or the day  How do I go about renewing it :o
