Hi Folks-
Just picked up my first cx bike (woohoo) and I was wondering about wheel selection. The bike came with a set of Ksyrium ES's on it. I have a nice pair of wheels for my road bike as well as a pair of Hed Kermesse C2 wheels (wider rim). Would these wheels be better than the Ksyriums for noob cross? I will probably put road tires on the other and use them for commuting. Thanks,

I rode Ksyriums this year and had no problems at all. They are some tough wheels, that's for sure. The Heds looks pretty nice too, and I believe a wider rim will allow your tire to be fatter, so you may get more traction that way. Someone else will have to verify that...
FWIW, I don't think you would go wrong with either wheelset.

I was given a pair of Aksiums by my team for cross this season. I thought they would probably not live through the season wtih 16f/20r spoke count and me being 200lbs. I was right. Rear wheel cracked in the second race on them.

Did 9 races on Ksyrium SLs this year - no problems - I wouldn't worry about rim width. Also, I'm 162 lbs.
Used Michelin Mud2s as tires, which should be fine for midatlantic cross racing.
What bike did you get?
