Commuting - hurricanes!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

well living in Jacksonville, fl, with the two big storms coming, i am forced to not commute to work by bike for at least the next 2 days. This will be my first break in riding since i started. I am truely depressed about this. I have litterally rode every single day since i started 5 weeks ago. i just can't get enough. my daily commute is 26 miles round trip. I must admit though since i haven't taken a break at all, my legs are still sore all of the time. The front side of my legs from the top of the knees to about half way up my leg is where most of the sorness is (sorry don't know what the muscle is called) is there a way to stretch this muscle (if so i sure as hell can't figure it out!) anything else i should do during this short rest period that would help the soreness go away, and stay away?
thanks for any help
P.S. this forum ROCKS!! I have learned quite allot from it over the last month!

You gotta go out for a spin at least. Then you could brag about having ridin in a hurricane.
And imagine the tailwind. Bet you could top 50 mph in granny gear.

After the storms, you might want to try this cure for sore leg muscles from my track & cross country days: No heavy exercise, instead just do some stretching to loosen up then go jog at an easy pace on a sandy beach or grassy infield for a few days. We used to do a mile or two but that may be more than necessary. Sore muscles are common when you begin vigorous exercise, just cut back a bit & let your body catch up to what you are asking it to do.
Sounds like this is a good time to take a few days off to cycling in some other state.
Your body needs a break every so often. Even cyclists with tough training schedules take time off the bike.
Listen to your body. If something is sore or hurts, give it some rest.
