It looks like Dahon is in the process of updating their website. It's currently running slow and not all of the pages work. However, I have looked through some of their new offers, including the Ios, the Eco 2 (the cheapest they offer, aside from the DLT Boardwalk), and a new Ciao variant.
Now, I've been perving over the Ciao! P8 since 2008 when it first came out. I really want to buy it for my wife. I've actually been waiting for the 2008 ones to drop in Price. Thor has his at around $700 (http://www.thorusa.com/dahon/2008/ciao.htm) and West Marine seems to be having a closeout sale at around $600 (http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/415545?&cid=chanintel&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=415545) (I'm thinking the extra hundred isn't worth the loss of Thor's service).
In any case, the new Ciao! D5 (http://www.dahon.com/bikes/2010/ciao-d5) is being marketed as the "economical Ciao! that is priced to move." This is interesting. From what I can tell, its very similar to the upper level Ciao's so far as components are concerned, with the main differences being a lack of a dynamo and lights and a 5 speed internal gearing, rather than a 6 speed. It's actually lighter than the upper end, because of these downgrades.
Does anyone have any news on it? (Thor?) Or if anyone is selling it? Also, any thoughts on this and Citizen's copy (http://www.citizenbikes.com/catalog.asp?product_category_id=1&product_id=22) of it (for $400, though I tend to trust Dahon's quality over Citizen, even if I have to save for a bit longer)?
