General Cycling Discussion - Is this ok to do?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
the stock suspension seatpost that came with my sirrus is too soft. so i tighten the bottom screw inwards more so it's stiffer. but since this is the first suspension seatpost i have used, i'm not sure if this is safe or not. what do you think?
here is a pic of it.
That's how you tighten those. Don't worry I doubt the elastomer is going to fire out through the bottom of your seat.
Rectum? Hell no damn near killed him.

dont worry its all good... my bike cam with one of those and i just tightened it all the way...after a couple months i hated it because sometimes i would hit a bump and it would depress and get stuck there...it annoyed me enough to buy a thompson elite...haha...the point is i have no seatpost up my rectum
cool cool... i know what you mean about the bump part.. before when it was soft.. i hit a bump and it got stuck so when i was about to get ready for a climb, i got off my seat and pop... the nose of the seat gave my boys a love tap. thus this thread as to how to make that shiat stiffer.
just saving up for a new post and stem...

yeah even after tightening my post it still did it occasionally. i even tried it on my mountain bike kuz i figured a suspension post may be good in that situation...nope...having a normal post is worth all the money in the world:D

Hi ruirui, I hadn't seen a picture of your Sirrus since the mods. Wow, it looks fantastic. What size seat post do you need? I have a 26.6 seat post that I would be glad to send you for free. It's nothing special--but it's in good shape and it's not a suspension post. It's not doing me any good lying in my toolbox. If you can use it drop me an e-mail at fox@demonstratives.com.
chuck.. thanks for your offer. i just sent you an e-mail. ;)
