I'm planning a spring time tour from Milton FL to Leesburg FL, and return. (I've done this by car, using Hwy 98 to Crystal Springs and Hwy 44 to Leesburg. I would like pointers for route selection utilizing roads that go thru interesting areas and avoid the worst; for example, Hwy 361 from Perry to Steinhatchee and 358 to Cross City. I'll be self supported, camping and occasional motel. To make it easy, I'll divide the route into Sections. Section One: Milton to Perry. Section Two: Perry to Dunnellon. Section Three: Dunnellon to Leesburg. Section Four: Leesburg to Interlachen? (intersection of Adventure Cycling Assn Southern Tier Route). Final portion would follow the ACAST to Milton. Evidently there is a 'Nature Coast State Trail' and a 'Withalachoochee Trail' along the way, and maybe others suitable for cycling.
