Depends.

If I want to solo off the front, and make sure that no one follows me, then shorts. No one is going to want to draft me while staring at my ass crack.

For all other intents and purposes, bibs.

So you wear shorts on easy rides? ;)

Think I've seen a similiar post before, but I don't mind a brief return to the topic. I tried bibs and haven't wore shorts since. I think only non-bib wearers ponder this dilemma.

Does anyone's team even order team shorts? I have only known of team bibs.

Mine leaves the offer open since they're slightly cheaper.

I've worn both, and will continue to wear both.

Why the hell would you wear bibs unless your gut is so big you need suspenders to keep your pants up
Bibs

Shorts only in the winter when I'm wearing 3 layers and am going to have to stop and pee.

prefer bibs. I make sure to race in my bibs. I'll wear my cycling shorts when: a) my bibs are in the laundry or b) I'm keeping the clean ones for a event or long distance ride.

I need to save up and buy more bibs.

Haha i guess you are right. I currently wear shorts (kind of more a cheaper issue) and was just wondering if i was in the minority, which it appears i definitely am.

sweet jeebus.

I guess you can take down the best team in the universe link. It appears the deadline to apply is well over, which is too bad because I am looking for a team to join to teach me how to race. I do not feel like driving to ann arbor.

Must be why every pro cyclist on the planet wears bibs and has for over 20 years.

I love this place. You see stuff here you you'll never see anywhere else other than a psychiatric hospital.

Naturally. However, humor is the result of something unexpected. Cool is the result of something compelling and unique. It's not unexpected, compelling, or unique. It is, cliche.

someone posts a 41 calibur question, and now all the replies are looking 41-like. what is this, the 41 invasion of the 33? does the 41 think that if you put the word race into a shorts or bibs question it becomes 33-worthy? if i ask what do racers prefer, campy or shimano, can i post it in the 33 or does it go into the 41? if i change it to what do pro racers prefer, should it be in the, 217?

fixed

To get more advertising space on the butt, they shortened jerseys, thus exposing butt crack, thus requiring bibs. Butt crack was not an issue in the old-days of longer cut jerseys. And our team jerseys have their pockets a bit high so you need to be double jointed to reach them.

I saw a video of Eddy getting undressed after a stage. He had shorts, held up with braces worn over his vest, under his jersey. He had a long, old style jersey. He didn't have an advert on his arse. So I suggest that the benefit of supporting your legwear is independent of bumcrack exposure or advertising on the posterior.
