After the Simon Cowell departure and the ratings plunge, at least 5 more. I would have said 2 more, but E. Degeneres will totally save that stupid show. She's good enough to carry them for a few years.

It only bothers me, when it's on when I turn on my TV to watch Fringe.

Is that still going on? I don't turn on the tv but for an hour a week or so and it's usually to the sciency channels.

I've never ever watched it. 'No idea how bad it really is, I just hear what my wife hears from one ditzy associate. I DO know I will NEVER watch it though.

if you're going to watch one of those shows, try "so you think you can dance." It gives you little gems like this every once in a while.

I can honestly say I've never watched a single episode. In fact not even a single minute. There hasn't been a good talent show on the air since The Gong Show. :love::lol::p

American Idol needs to be tossed in the dumpster and so does Big Brother. That crappy programming is stale already.

I like American Idol. I also like Billy Idol.

I would rather watch Idol than alot of the other trash that is on TV. It is one of the few non sports programs that I will watch on a regular basis. I do however watch it on my DVR so I can fast forward through commercials, etc.

I tend to like reality TV. I watch Deadliest Catch, Storm Chasers, Survivor and Bull Run.

So... how is sitting in front of a TV watching a singing competition any worse than sitting in front of a TV watching grown men tackle each other... or drive over an oval... or shoot a ball into a hoop... or...

2) its one of the dumbest shows on the tube..it panders to the absolute lowest common denominator
3) Its not good entertainment - the auditions are nerve grinding...beyond belief
4) nothing explodes
5) I can't escape it... even the freaking news shows parts of it.

They killed off Australian Idol a few years ago. Mind you they just went with a new franchise and now we have the X Factor instead. We are getting a franchise of The Voice next. I actually like Australia's Got Talent. Its more open and somewhat less predictable.

This. In a sense I think those communist countries are not 100% wrong when they say TV is bad and prohibit people from watching it too much.

I like the audition shows.... and then watch it here & there to see if they've actually found an interesting artist. This year, Phil Phillips (bet he curses him unimaginitive parents for not being able to come up with something better than his 1st name matching his last name, with PP as initials.... middle school must have been hell...) is a weird, but captivating, cross between John Mayer, Sean Hayes, and Jakob Dylan. He probably won't make it anywhere near the end, but will definately end up with some sort of upcoming recording. Worth checking out just to listen to him!
