A tradition for well over 25 years signifying the start of the Florida Racing Calendar, The Battle of Olustee will muster troops at 9:00 a.m. Sunday January 24th at the Holiday Inn corner of 441 and University avenue. It will head North on 441 then North on 121 at the Highway Patrol Station.

Ride length is something over 100 miles with one brief food stop at about 45 miles.

Expect substantial acceleration with 40 hilly miles to go.

Entry fee $0.

Support 0.

Sympathy 0.

Club or group affiliation 0.

Bring lots of food, water, and attitude.

Committee to avoid responsibility (CAR)


**** PLEASE NOTE *****
Out of town visitors who are attending may wish to park in the Walmart Parking lot on 441 (2649 N.W. 13th Street, Gainesville, FL, 32609). The Holiday Inn is a short 1.5 mile ride heading southbound on 13th Street (441) from the Walmart.

If you are riding them at 30 mph you are getting dropped.

..it's my wife's birthday but I'm taking her to a show a few days later..we'll see how much latitude that gets me.

If you are riding them at 30 mph you are getting dropped.

Don't go to Europe if you're getting dropped at 30.

I had the honor of getting totally shelled on that ride a long time ago. I figure I lasted about 2-3 minutes into the "substantial acceleration".

I might show up and do it tourist mode. The ride goes right past my wife's law office in Alachua late in the ride and she normally spends some time there on Sunday so I might make that a rest stop.

Weather for Saturday's crit looks like it will be wet. Time to HTFU.
