My first round of components just arrived from performance today, and I've run into my first problem, the clamp on the front deraileur is too small... There was no option for clamp size when I ordered to part, what did I do wrong, and what do I need to do to fix it? I have a trek 1200.

One more thing, I am assuming now that I need the 1 1/4 diameter clamp instead of the 1 1/8 diameter clamp? I guess performance only carries the latter. Is my seat tube on a trek 1200 1 1/4?
so... now before I make another mistake, what is the difference between these two deraileurs except the price:

and the cheaper seemingly the same:

You have to specify what you need depending on seattube diameter. They don't know what you have. If it's an adapter clamp with a braze on FD attched to it you need the proper diameter adapter. If it's a true band type derailer, then you need a different derailer with the proper diameter clamp.

You better measure it before you make another mistake. Many seattubes are 13/8" in diameter. If that's the case, you need a braze on
FD with 13/8" braze on adapter clamp, as shimano does not make a true clamp type FD in a 13/8" diameter.
