I know there's probably nothing I can really do, but it's hard to just stand around when I see this tweeker in my neighborhood, riding around on a carbon S-Works Stumpjumper that I'm sure someone somewhere is missing. What to do? Should I report it to the police? I don't know that it would matter, because it's not like cops have the time to track down stolen bikes- though that bike might have cost enough that it would be considered a felony theft, I don't know.

Just ask the rider where or how he got the nice bike.

You may be surprised.

I overheard him telling someone else he bought it at a pawn shop. Doesn't make it sound much more legit.

Offer him $300 for it and flip it.
