I have seen a few posts regarding the Motobecane Legacy Pro available over the internet. I bought one of these bikes last month and am very pleased with it. I'm 5'10" and got the 58cm. The bike fits me but I wouldn't want the frame any smaller. My 58cm Cannondale 3.0 seemed slightly taller. I was looking for a smoother riding bike than the Cannondale and I wanted ergo shifting. The 853 frame and Ultegra components turned out to be a good choice for me. The bike rides so much smoother than the 3.0. All the components work perfectly. I installed a stem with more rise (I found a matching Ritchey Comp on ICycles for 10 bucks). The Ritchey wheels are first rate. Tightly tensioned and perfectly tru after several hunderd miles. The saddle is crap but I swapped it out with my normal saddle anyway.
The tires look cheap but so far they've been trouble free and ride nicely. The frame is identical to the Mercier Serpins 853 as well as older Fuji 853 frames. Ritchey forged dropoputs are a nice touch. Very clean smooth welds on the frame. Nice paint but dark color with all the black components make it a little dull looking. All the Ritchey parts are nice. I don't think this bike has any connection with the old Motobecanes of the past. Frame is made in Tiawan.
They did finally send me the head tube badges which look ok when applied. The bike handles nicely. The radial front wheel / carbon fork is a little harsh over expansion joints. Not as twitchy as my old 3.0. Very stable. tracks straight with no hands. Confident in the corners. Overall I'm very pleased.

thnx for the review. im thinking of getting the mercier serpens 853. my only hang up now is size. this will be my first road bike ever. im 5'8" with 30" inseam, and have been told the 54cm would fit me better (here on this forum by others with similar measurments).
how much does your 58cm weigh?
are all shimano parts labeled? someone mentioned certain parts came unlabled.
thnx. hope you enjoy your bike .
