do you know your bike's serial number?

if your bike got stolen and the police (yeah, right) or somebody ended up retrieving it, could you claim it by telling them your serial number?

I'm just sayin'... take 2 seconds and write it down somewhere if you haven't already.

no reply needed... unless it's a smartass reply.

Yep, and they already know it. So if some dumb@$$ steals it, and I find him, all I do is call.
I get to ride my bike away, dude gets a ride in a cop car. I've had the police chop locks downtown to get the ex's bike back.
She reported, they drove up with some BIG cutters when I phoned, no prob.

I get a kick when I regester my bike, my serial is under 050. The officer says 'and?, what's the rest of the no#?.' Hehe.

Ya, it's that cool.

take inventory every newyears (its a good hangover thing to do). Anything new, audio/visual, bikes, mcycles, firearms, etc. Add to a perpetual list you keep in the safe-deposit box. Comes in handy if anything is ever stolen (police) or lost in disaster (insurance).

Anything that gets stolen in SoCal ends up south of the Mexican border within 24 hours. :(
