My name is Dan and I currently own a Next Mountain Bike. I bought it a few years ago cheap at Walmart and now am looking to buy a good road/commuter bike. I recently got serious about biking to save gas and to get exercise. So far I've biked 63.3 miles since late Nov. Currently I ride for trips under 5 miles (store, church, etc) when there isn't heavy snow on the roads. If there is, I usually walk if I have the time. Look forward to learning what I can thru this site.

I was thinking $200 would be my limit.

Craiglist is your best bet. Keep checking it often.

When you get a nice bike keep the Next for winter riding, because nice bikes dont like salt. In the meantime put 1.5" wide tires and tubes on the Next.
