We had about 7 hours of nonstop rain here this morning, terrific way to wake up on a day off. Totally interrupted my riding plans. Anyhow, it's stopped now, for what I hope is good. I have a brand new bike and I'm very particular about it because its new of course. Just curious if it's ok to just take right off on the wet roads, or should I wait a few hours?

Thanks!

it's been raining in greenville all day too. if i had a new ride, i wouldn't go out until the roads were dry. but that's just me.

i've ridden in rain, wind, hail, snow... but I never start a ride in those conditions. I typically wait for some drain-off.

But you can ride as soon as you. If you're worried about your bike, I'm sure it's solid. Whatcha riding?

Giant OCR-1, purchased last friday. This would be my first day missing a chance to ride it.

(it's my first road bike btw)

After the ride, just wipe down your bike and lube the chain. It will be fine. If you have to coddle a bicycle, is it really worth owning?

oh :( yeah, don't let it get wet, when the wind blows more then 5mph or if the grade goes above 3%, you should walk it and only ride on the smoothest of roads.

Just kiding. Go ride, have fun! Get all muddy, ride thru the deepest puddles.

Just remember to periodically drain water out of the frame. I usually just remove the seatpost and tip the bike upside down.

ride it baby, riiiiide!
since i did my first centuries in the rain, i dunno, sometimes i look forward to riding in the rain. anyway get that bike dirty. after a while all you'll care about is the drivetrain; the frame will hold up just fine. almost nothing rusts, so all you have to do is keep that drivetrain clean and make sure everything's greased up (hubs bb seatpost stem) now and then.
