Road Cycling - exclusively road bikes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Are there any companies out there that exclusively focus on road bikes and not make mountain/touring, etc. bikes? Just wondering. Thanks.

Yeah, it's also funny how a lot of people can forget about the not-so-popular history of a company. For instance, Pinarello also made mountain bikes back in 1990 and so did Cinelli (three or four models designed by Fisher and sold only in 1991). Some of these bikes also used the Campy MTB groups.

Actually there were several levels. Euclid was the original but eventually the lineup (in order) included:
Record-OR (OffRoad)
Euclid
Olympus
Centaur
Icarus
Themis
Overbuilt, overpriced and heavy... But they were sure purty looking.
I have a book that shows a picture of the old Bullet shifters claiming that it was the future of MTB shifter technology. Admittedly, Campy was ahead of their time in that they were offering 8-speed when Shimano was only at 7.
One might argue that every bike sold at Walmart is "exclusively road". I mean, who would be brave enough to take one of those babies for any sersious offroading?

Oh come on man my 48 lb walmart special has full suspension. It must be for off road use.
Disclaimer: No I don't really have a Walmart bike but my 3 yr old does have one from Target which he took over the curb and into a neighbor's yard...does that count as off road?

TIME are also road exclusive. But then I consider any bike manufacture road exclusive cause I could care less about MTB's!

Yeah they ain't cheap! After I totaled my Cinelli I really wanted to get a VRX but really couldn't justify the price. When I road one then road the Orbea Orca I REALY couldn't justify the price (I also got a great deal on the Orca...over 1/2 the cost of VRX)!
