You're a moderator, I think you should delete his thread; that'll show him. These people that actually ride their bicycles as bicycles need to learn a lesson.

You asked for an elevation----And even this will not show it fully. The Slippage I had was basically when I was going too slow to get the Garmin to register. Long Man has a max of 18% grade and Butts Brow is 24%

They may not be high but climbs like that take it out of me--Hence the ride back on the flat bits after Butts brow.

Summer and this is just Hardpack chalk. Good surface till you hit the "Green" bits. Winter and the chalk is like ICE and loose scree covers the trail, in between the ruts and the mud in the forest.

This range of hills is only 6 miles from home so I don't bother going too far for a decent ride. I can get in easy or hard rides covering anything from 20 to 60 miles without touching a road except to cross one.

We need to increase the stupidity level by quite a bit if we aspire to become a 2.0 version of the road forum.

No. You either get it or you don't. It's pointless to discuss it or to try to explain it.

I love riding my dual suspension with the big knobby 2.35 tires on long windy road rides.
The suspension gobbles up pot holes and speed bumps =)

The knobs make a cool noise on the ground too, makes my bike sound gnarly.

Trails are never too crappy to ride. Tiring --Yes- but I would rather ride offroad than tackle the Ice on a Fire road. That gravel will hurt if you slip on it.

I ride road and the only time the MTB goes on that stuff is on the way out to the hills.

Have to admit though that with the number of potholes around- a full suspension MTB might be a good idea for saving the butt.
