Road Cycling - buying a new bike, what do i need, and what deals are there?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

hi, i havent "invested" in a proper road bike... erm.... ever, ive just received them as presents. I am considering parting with £500 for a Specialized Allez (wise move for a first road racing bike?) and wonder what things i need (or may want) aswell as the new bike.... and what can I ask to be thrown in/discounted to sweeten the deal? Will i need to be "fitted" for a bike?

Ive bought a few motorbikes in the last few years, and always ensure i get some cheap accessories and knocked down price and a free alarm and immobiliser! :) Is it the same with buying cycles? (accept for things i want for a cycle)

Usually thrown in - cages, water bottles.

Might get a discount on:
Helmet, shoes, pedals, pump, spare tubes, chain lube, gloves.
