Is the 7.5Fx a good bike for the price. vs the 7.2Fx.
Or should i just go the the 7.3Fx. in the middle. ?

The current thinking is the 7.3 FX is the best choice. Frame is virtually the same as the 7.5, and the difference in components are hardly noticeable when using.

thanks for the reply.
Ya im thinking the 7.3, really liking the blue.
The 7.5 is the best bang for the buck. There is a big difference between the e-z fire and the rapid fire shifters. The carbon fork will give a slightly smoother ride.

I have a 7.3, and it is the Carrera Blue. I like it a lot, and it is beautiful.
If you look on the Trek site at the 7.3 reviews, the one by "W" is me, with pics.

I, also, think the 7.3 is the best bang for the buck. I just don't think the difference in componentry is worth $300. Plus, the carbon fork is not quite as durable.
You can replace components with different quality, as the OEM stuff wears out.
The net effect, is still a $300 savings.

Yes - and that $300 can go quite far in other things you may wish to change/upgrade.
7.3fx is cheaper. If it's stolen, heartbreak is less vs. 7.5fx. Carbon fork is only nice to have.

I just bought the 7.3 (blue) and it was last years so I got it for a pretty good deal. Picking it up (I HOPE) Friday. I tried that one as well as the 7.5. I didn't notice as much of a difference in the ride as I did the price! I think I'll be happy with the 7.3
Personally I can't stand the EF60 shifter/brakes on the 7.3FX. These came on my Valencia and I hated them. The Deore components on the 7.5 are much better IMO. I also like the FlexForm saddle that comes with the 7.5. I've upgraded a ton of stuff on my 7.5 and kept the saddle!
But if you aren't really into bikes and don't care for the carbon fork, then the 7.3 is probably your best bet. The extra $300 will get you a bunch of stuff that you probably won't value. And if this bike gets you into bikes, then even if you got the 7.5 you'd probably want to upgrade a bunch of stuff anyway. The frame is the same, Alpha Black, and that is the "guts" of the bike.

I think you'll like it too :) I sure do like mine, and it's also blue. Beautiful bike, great color. As my review on the trek site says, I don't much care for the saddle (though I really haven't given it a fair chance yet), and the brakes can be finicky to adjust. But, the brakes have seemed to stay in adjustment after my first go-round with them.
Nothing against the 7.5, and I bought mine used, so the pricing is kind of out the window, but $300 more for the 7.5 seems like a lot to me.

MattyA: The 7.2 FX is now made with alpha-Black frame. I wonder what they're going to do with the 7.1 FX? Donate them to the military for target-practice?
Any of the FX -series lend themselves to upgrading and modification. I didn't like the Deore shifters, or the Avid SD 3 brakes. Installed SRAM 'Attack' 9-speed shifters for $40 - $50. Nice! And the SD 3's were replaced with Avid SD 7's - best v-brakes one could hope for.

Yeah, the 7.3 was already on sale. Then it was the last model of that color size and year, so they took another $50 off. Lots less and I figure I can upgrade whatever doesn't work for me with the extra $$$ I saved. :) But I am new to the biking. I went with what I liked, what felt right to me and was trying not to totally break the bank. And had there been a really big difference in a positive way, I'd have gone with the 7.5.
Already decided to start looking at saddles just in case. Other than that, I'll play it by ear.
