edit:

Then you won't understand this at all:

on the contrary, I find conan quite funny. His simpsons era writing was really the golden times for the simpsons.
monty python is very good comedy as well.
what is not very good comedy is carrot top.

Plus his ratings sucked compared to Leno's @ 11:35, another reason NBC wanted him gone. The NBC Brass are total friggin idiots.

Carrot Top is just scary. An example of 'roids and comestic surgery gone horribly wrong.
I've always thought Conan sucked from the get-go when they gave him Letterman's slot.
And the stuff about it "being generational" is such BS. Funny is funny, regardless of age. Conan is not funny. I agree with pcad... NBC is run by morons. When something works - like Jay - you leave it the hell alone.
All TV is about is ratings, which is what gets the advertising dollars to keep the network on in the first place. Although I think with the advent of DVR and Tivo, it really doesn't matter what time a show is on because people will watch it when they want to IF they like the show. If they could start doing Nielsen's on DVRs, perhaps cancellation decisions would be affected.
If Conan jumps to Fox, he'll suck there too.
Conan O'Brien is not funny!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. I'm not a big Conan fan, but the NBC decision makers really screwed the pooch on this one and now they're trying to blame Conan. Leno didn't help; he never should have asked for (or demanded?) to put, basically, his same show on at 10PM. Leno should have walked away and they need to give Conan a chance to build his audience. His comedy is a bigger change than that of Carson to Leno.

I have noticed, that since Letterman was busted, his stuff has been a little better.

He has written for and been head writer for some of the most successful shows of the last 20 years. Yeah, he's a talentless hack.

I bet you're an excellent writer.
Never thought Conan was funny; for that matter, it's been years since I thought Letterman was funny. Leno took years, too, before he STARTED being funny -- the first few years after Carson were truly bleak. (As far as Jimmy Kimmel, I'm still wondering what degenerate act he performed, and for who, to even get on TV.)

Craig Ferguson is the one that is not funny. Every show starts the same. He walks out onto the stage and makes a couple of stupid gestures and the whole audience laughs like a bunch of hyenas. I just don't get it.

I don't find any of the late night guys very funny. Their introductory stand up schticks are usually predictable and boring. Letterman's top 10 thing is now so contrived and forced that it doesn't even blip on the relevance radar. On the other hand "The Colbert Report" I find genuinely funny.

I can't stand Conan--glad I am not alone. Can't stand the current Letterman, either, but liked the old one. Same with Leno.
I loved Carlson.
I am 31, so between generations, I guess. But I never thought farts were funny when I was 12 years old, but I do now. What gives.
Correct

I don't know if this is supposed to be Johnny Carson or Carson Daily.. Either way it's funny. Daily sux and you were 13 when johnny went off the air and the last few years the show a shell of it's old self.

Ernie Kovacs was funnier than all of them rolled into one.

Being funny is just part of being a successful late night talk show host. I think on a purely comic level, Leno, Letterman, and O'Brien are all funnier than Johnny Carson was. Yet, Carson was a far better host than all three of them. Go figure that one out.

Johnny Carson, of course.

Letterman also. And Carson frequently sent jokes in to Letterman until he died. He did not do that for Jay. He wanted NBC to give Letterman the Tonight Show.

He was one of the best TV interviewers ever. If you want to see how to interview someone and do a great job, watch old Carson show reruns.

Funny peculiar? Or funny haha?
He and Adam Sandler (in a JETS t-shirt) weren't bad last night. (http://www.hulu.com/watch/121982/the-tonight-show-with-conan-obrien-adam-sandler-part-2) Sandler: (Referring to NBC execs) "Nothing But C*******s", impersonating his manager.:lol::lol:

Since his financial future isn't as secure as Conan's, Andy seems hesitant to laugh at Sandler's story. :innocent:

I can't claim to know the details, but the reports are that Conan also secured $12M from NBC for the show crew plus is also kicking some of his $33M back to the crew.

He has plenty of money. It's all about pride now.
I'm a 53 y/o male. Was always a Leno fan, boycotted Conan when he took Leno's place. Never watched his show when he took Leno's spot.
Got to have my Monday night Leno fix....."Headline News".

Plus, they'll all be working when Fox picks them up. Although with all the money he's spending his last couple days, they might get nervous about that;)
