Cyclocross - Specialized retiring the Tricross?

Quite odd. I looked at the Specialized Tricross site today: http://www.specialized.com/es/en/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?sid=10Tricross&eid=4670&menuItemId=9374
and the only thing listed now is the Triple and the Expert frameset.

Wonder if they are retiring it? I actually have a 2010 Comp model but no listing of it.

Pity they never offered that frame with disc brakes and 135mm spacing.

Would have been the perfect bike.

There are other bikes missing from their website. The MSRP(s) are also missing from the site. I suspect it's just a problem with their website. I know they had problems with the site 2-3 months ago.

Database errors on the website. It's back to normal.

They are not retiring persay, but overhauling it quite a bit by redesigning some aspects of the frame.

Hopefully with disc tabs and 135mm spacing.

You were on the spain version of the website, the US version has several models listed. I've done this a bunch of times haha

Strange. I simply went to www.specialized.com. Guess there was some DNS/routing issues.

if they're redesigning it, i hope they re design the god awful fork on it. part of the reason why i didn't pick it. however, keeping the tire clearance would be nice.

I hope that they get rid of those cheesy inserts in the seat stays and the fork.

I think Specialized is desperately trying to differentiate itself from the other cross bikes out there by adding little gimmics like this. Probably does nothing but add more weight to the bike. I agree though, the fork is butt ugly, but the comp level and above now is completely carbon. It actually looks nicer now.

The fork needs to stay, you guy's that don't like it need to find a different brand of bike to buy. This bike handled this crappy winter brilliantly. Looks aren't everything.

That's a 2.1 29er tire in there. Freakin awesome. And once the snow melts I'll replace these tires with Small Block 8's of the same size. This bike goes where my other cross bike fears to tread.

I tried 47-622 Schwalbe Marathon Plus back of Tricross Comp and it fitted! This tire was actually 41 mm wide on a roval wheel. Deviation of down pipes is about 48 mm.

Yep. My girlfriend has sadly decided that she likes the 2008 tricross with front disk, so it looks like I'm going to have to shell out to upgrade my 2009 the same. Wish there was a disk-compatible carbon fork with front rack mounts, but you probably can't have everything.

I'm using mine for mountain bike orienteering events now. In the less technical events (lots of gravel road) I think it has a decent advantage over hardtails, but fortunately no one else has figured that out yet...

Last weekend I went on a 4 day tour, mostly road, with a bit of singletrack and dirt road. Oh, and a BMX course. And some dirt jumps. And a few kilometres on packed sand on the beach...and a few rockpools. Yeah, pretty close to the perfect all rounder...

And now I'm all intrigued by the idea of 29er tyres too...

Have you seen the Voodoo Nakisi? Near as I can tell it doesn't actually exist yet apart from the prototypes. I was eying it last fall as a winter commuter, but it never came out so I got a Cross Check instead, which is nice but I love my 700x50 Marathon Supremes and disc brakes, so now I'm converting my Muirwoods 29er to a monster cross bike.

I know the Trek Portland had a carbon fork that had disk and rack mounts. I looked on Bontragers site and it's not listed anymore, but the picture on the forks page is the exact fork. They just don't sell it anymore. Bet you could find one used though. You'd lose some tire clearance with it.

It's still sold. Bontrager Satellite Elite Carbon. It's just a rebadged Winwood fork anyway.. Stuff disappears off Bontragers site if it's not currently in stock.
