I had my first puncture last week! and I'm now trying to change the inner tube. I'm having problems with the inner tube sizing.

The original, punctured inner tube is a Specialized 700x20/28C,27x1-1(1\8) THIN.

I've just been down to a local supplier and brought back a 700x28C,27x1-(1/4) which did not look right as soon as I took it out of the box. Placing the tube inside the tire, it appears to be too big.

Can anybody please explain to me what these figures mean and what I need to look for when buying a new inner tube? Many thanks

It should work OK.
Just put some air in it and fit it inside the tire.

What is your Tire size?

Thanks for your reply, my tires:

Specialized Mondo Sport, 700x23c, wire bead, 60TPI, Flak Jacket

if the inner tube is too big, won't it bulge in places?
