After replacing the Shimano C101 Megarange 7 Speed derailleur on my Specialized Expedition bike with a new one purchased from Ebay, the derailleur guide pully grinds against the innermost (Z) cog. Note that I replaced the new hanger pivot's mounting bolt and plate with the old one, as the new one came with a bracket mount whereas the old plate bolted into a direct mount (retaining the new spring and other new parts, of course). I am using the old chain (which I did not break apart) and cables which came with the bike. Up to the two innermost Y and Z cogs the derailleur indexing works pretty well, it is just too close to the sprockets to sit in the Y cog without rubbing against the Z and it does not jump up to the inside Z cog at all as it is inside it. Any idea what's wrong?
Some notes: There is no B screw to adjust on this derailleur. Except for the mount, the new C101 is an exact replacement of the original one and its 11T-34T capacity is the same as the original Shimano Magarange 11-34 sprockets on the bike. I followed Barnett closely, as well as Shimano's manual for that derailleur, except I did not re-string the cable.
