Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

There was one in the Oregon Manifest from Parlee or someone like that. You might want to ask in the touring section. If you're pulling a trailer on a long distance ride, you're doing it wrong. This forum is for riders that don't have the sense to stop for the night.

Ive been doing up to 600k on my Colnago C50 with a small handlebar bag, and the rest in my jersey.. Living mostly on the Credit card for food.. The trailers I saw were single wheel with panniers on both sides of the wheel. It looked very light.. I am just trying not to buy another bike since I spent 10 grand on this one..
a gent that rides for the rapha continental team and is a local (to me) in burlington, vt area has one. parlee i think. i've seen him on his rig, but never with the trailer.
here's a video of it.

Even though I can't see the video, from the description I'm pretty sure that's the one that was entered in the Oregon Manifest competition. I think it was specially built for the competition.

Holey Mollee! You're not going to put a trailer on a Colnago C-50 are you??? That's sacrilege! I thought putting a seat post mounted rack on mine was bad enough!

After viewing the video I thought this would be the perfect solution. Lightweight (less than 4 lbs), keeps all the extra weight of stuffed panniers off my bike, and so on.. I called Parlee this morning to get a price and some more information. Apparently the trailer was a one off custom designed for a specific race. Designed to carry a six pack of beer for 80 miles.. Thats why the compartment has a divider inside. They are in the process of making a few design changes, and then will sell them for around the cost of a new frame ($5000 to 7000 dollars US). I know custom stuff is expensive, but this is over the top price wise for me.. Anyway if someone wants one they are available with a 6 month wait time.

thats some expensive beer.
extra wheel is something i've really liked the idea of.
and they have a new version designed for traditional panniers...
and the wheel can be a match to your bike - so you have a spare along.

Why don't you try a seatpost mounted rack like the one on my bike? They come in lots of sizes. I do 1200k rides with it. Works great.

Ha Ha, talking about sacrilege! Is that a triple on a C50?
Just teasing. I will probably have to try that post mount but I didn't want to.

Touche!:thumb: In my defense it is an ultra-rare Tru-Vativ Carbon Triple. For the type of racing/riding I do it's essential. ;) The fact that the rest of the components are Ultegra and DA, not Campy, I have no excuse!

Consider soft bags...

And for touring I add a front harness for sleep system:

And with a small frame pack (Jandd) I can do lite touring...
