Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Has anyone ever done this? http://www.tinmtn.org/hillclimb/century/index.cfm

A friend and I are planning on doing it officially, but if the weather is crappy, we'd like to do it just on-our-own. I know the stretch from Gorham to Twin Mountain pretty well -- i.e., there are plenty of stores so we could be self-sufficent. What about Twin Mountain back to Gorham? I've never been up through Jefferson Notch. I saw on one web-site that parts of Jefferson Notch are dirt, but there were some other false hoods on there, so I'm not sure if I believe it.

Any information appreciated! Thanks

Wow, I live in New Hampshire and that sounds like a really nice ride, I've been up in that area many times and it would be a very nice ride, challanging, but nice views. I'd have to do it next year, I'm not where in shape for a century ride yet. Do they do this race every year?

The Mt. W. century seems to have caught on -- I think this is the 3rd straight year they've had it. I've climbed Pinkham and Crawford Notch in the past. Pinkham isn't bad, Crawford is worse because it is looonnnngggggg and then gets very steep for the last mile or so. It would be a really hard first century; if you're looking for something pretty easy for your first crack at the 100 mile distance, there is this:

which is most definitely held every year.
