Alt Bike Culture - Want to see over cars? Cushyness of a long wheelbase? Look no more!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That's really cool but seeing over cars is something I already do. I don't need to see over trucks though :)

That looks like a lot oh fun!!! There are a few more clips on youtube with the riders POV (helmet cam), it looks a little scary. I'd have to start with 2 bikes high first. If you got hit by a car, you wouldnt actually get hit BY the car, the bike would be taken out from under you. Then you just pretend you're a cat. :)

I have noticed that any kind of tall thing seems about 3 times as tall when you're on it as it does looking at it from the ground, too.
It would definitely take some doing. For example, in that video (and some of the others I've seen), the tall bike in question has several other bikes running ahead to block off traffic. I'd be afraid that I'd be riding along and all the sudden,. something jumps in front of me bringing to a dead halt before I could dismount.

well, that was actually a ride with hundreds of people, I remember he was riding the bike solo earlier that day. But I know what you are talking about, I prefer to ride fixed gear tall bikes because i feel like i have more control of the bike and I can track stand them.

I think I saw a picture of someone commuting on a tall bike in the utility cycling forum. It was only 2 frames high though. Might be fun to do that once. I bet the ride in the OP would be difficult to do a track stand on.

I'm more interested in seeing somebody tour on a tallbike. Think of all the extra cargo room!
