Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am having the worst time trying to keep my OE wheels on my giant true. They have been off more times than I can count for adjustments. I am not a heavy guy (190lbs) and the bike is not abused off road. It spends most of its time on a MUP pulling a child trailer. The front fork/headset has also been swapped to a surly solid fork and I have gotten rid of the suspension seat post. I am not looking to break the bank on a new set of wheels, and getting a new bike is out of the question since I have already poured money into this thing. The wheels that I am looking at are the Shimano Deore M525 Disc/Sun Ringle Rhyno Lite Wheelset. Anyone have any other suggestions, and yes I know that I am going to have to replace the cassette.

Not being able to keep them true may be caused by a bad build. Who is truing them when they need to be trued? Have they made sure that the spoke are properly tensioned?
May be cheaper then a new wheelset. The Sun wheel you link to are 27.5 mm wide which is a bit wider then most. You will need to at least make brake pad adjustments as long as the frame has the room.

Not knowing what area you are in - I would contact PSIMET, a frequent contributor. His wheels get rave reviews.
If you can't find him by searching, get back to me, and I can supply an addy.

Any opinions on the mavic crossride ub? They are about $200.00 for the set.

You really should hook up with PSIMET, if for no other reason than technical advice.... and, you just might be pleasantly surprised with his knowledge of quality wheels. He is always very helpful.
