Haven't been out today.. but I'm hoping that it will dry up a little for the rest of the week so that i can get my bike tomorrow :D and then get out riding pretty soon. Riding in the rain is nice though i always like going out for walks in the rain and then coming home and taking a nice warm bath :D

I am not much of a swimmer. Will get on the trainer for the first time this winter.
We have been pretty lucky on the weather side so far, chilly but mostly dry. The week forecast looks very wet.

I'd commute today, but the idea of going out for "fun" is a non-starter.
I was thrilled to sneak in a ride yesterday when I had expected rain. I wasn't going to, but MyLilPony (tougher than i am) talked me into it, and it was quite nice.

I commuted in to work this morning - loved the tail wind that I got. Felt like a kid with the wind at my back and splashing through puddles!
Hopefully the wind will die down before my ride home tonight :).
i'm not hard enough to bike to work today. This week is going to suck big time !

Wasn't too bad before 9am today and the afternoon forecast isn't too bad. Tomorrow morning (and Wednesday morning and Thursday morning) look more interesting, though.

Major headwind for me so, no offense, I'm hoping the wind doesn't die down!

I commuted Fresno -> San Jose on my motorcycle this morning and had torrential rain for the last 30 miles.
I was on Hwy 101 in the left lane and the cars in front of me were kicking up huge plumes of water every now and then. It was a bit nerve wracking imagining someone hydroplaning in front of me and losing control of their vehicle. I didn't actually see any accidents happen but at one point traffic slowed way down and then I noticed a car over in the left shoulder that was pointed the wrong way. There were dents on the front of his car and the bumper was hanging off on one side. Traffic on the freeway slowed down and this guy did a U-turn right in front of me and got back on the freeway going the right direction.
There was another wreck a few miles later, looked like a crumpled bmw z4 on the right side of the road.
I got a little wet on my right thigh where the rainsuit leaked. Other than that I stayed dry and had a blast :)
Rain shouldn't cause traffic accidents. One good thing I got from growing up in MN was driving in weather. Not rain, real weather.

heh I wish I had that much dedication. I looked at my rainsuit, looked outside, then noticed my car keys.... :(

I was on the trainer for 45 minutes, then looked out the window and noticed it wasn't raining. I even saw blue!
I grabbed my fenderized commuter bike and got an hour in. Such a deal after all.
My commute is only 3.5 miles and most of it is on the Stevens Creek Trail so I'll gladly put on my Gore-Tex pants and shell and get on my commuting bike with fenders vs. dealing with morning traffic. I think I'll put plastic bags around my socks today though and try to ride away from any lightning strikes.

Moist ride in today, but not bad. I ride downtown San Jose to corner of Central and Lawrence.

MyLilPony took off to work this morning on her CrossCheck in huge wind and a lot of rain.
I continue to be impressed.

I rode in today-- one hour early because of a power outage on campus. Light Rail from Fair Oaks to MTV and then rode to Stanford. Lots of wind, debris, and a puddle of biblical proportions near Villa and Shoreline. I found it in the dark-- dirty shame there isn't a :wet: icon.
i heard on the radio, on my way to work this morning, 50-70 mph gusts is expected tomorrow !

I spent 80 minutes on a trainer. I figured it would suck either way, but at least I'll catch up on the news and stay dry this way. I looked outside and it wasn't raining too bad, so put on my rain gear and rode motorcycle to work.

15 or 16 miles on the tandem. Rained a bit while we were stopped for coffee. Great tailwind on the way back home. Wednesday and Thursday are a write-off, but the weekend looks pretty promising. First century of the season on Feb 14 so we've got to get out.

Rode in this AM... left right when it sucked (around 0830 in San Mateo) and got hit by some small hail stones even. Looks like I have a break for my ride from here to the train (I leave in 15 min or so).
I rode to my lbs, to pick my other bike up.
So I ended up riding home with my tri-bike on my back.
luckily it doesnt weigh much

No car, I'm biking. I stay off of the expressway when it's raining though.
Yesterday reminded me that my jacket is only waterproof for the first couple of miles in a significant rain.

I absolutely love riding in the rain, haven't gotten to ride much lately though because of some health issues. Hope to be back on the bike by February.

I got soaked both mornings, the rides back were much nicer. I am OK with riding in the rain or in the dark, but the combination is not so good. I also pre-emptively removed a bunch of tiny glass shards from my tires before they get a chance to cut through. They seem to embed in the tire more easily when the surface is wet. Changing a flat in a dark and stormy night is my least favorite

Get a windbreaker from alertshirt.com. I've never gotten wet when wearing it. Their quality is inexpensive and awesome! :)

Rode again today... at least it was light outside today. Tailwind was fun. :)
I rode on Tuesday but not today. I was geared up to go but in the end felt bad asking my kids to walk to school in the rain. Since I drove them in, I ended up driving too. I'll be back on the saddle tomorrow.

Today I used a GoreTex shell. Major headwind on the way in, so ended up working too hard and getting wet from the inside. Kept dry and enjoyed the tailwind on the way back.

I had a flat this morning... so, so, soooo wet. But before that, the light rain and lack of wind was pretty refreshing after the last few days, and I had no feelings of "what am I doing out here?"
Thanks to the mechanics at Park Ave Motors Mercedes in PA for letting me occupy a corner of their garage and lending me a rag so I could fix it in the dry.:thumb:
just got a 20% coupon in the mail, i wonder if it's sign that it's time for me to bite the bullet and invest in a trainer.

I bike commuted in big rain and got a flat on the way home. I only then noticed I'd left my pump on my fixed gear. I pushed 2 miles, then my sweet daughter's now-declared-wonderful boyfriend picked me up and drove me home. Two hours later I could feel my toes again.

My dumb thing was that I only had a 700Cx28-32 tube on me... and I was on my mountain bike (26x1.25). :/

I just got back from riding Diablo as well. Was surprised at the amount of snow and the dummies making snowmen on their hoods to carry down the mountain. Felt great until the last mile then the cold and tiredness kicked in at the same time. Great ride though, dramatic views.

I have a new car, I have a motorcycle. What I seem to lack is a foresight to check the weather report and common sense. After taking an extended break from commuting on my fixie I finally decided to stop being lazy and ride to work. In the evening it started to rain, not only that but the wind picked up. I ended up riding in to the heavy rain pretty much all the way home. I could have asked for a ride, but noooo I decided to ride. Just to underscore how stupid that decision was I passed a wrecked corvette on San Thomas right before Homestead. If weather doesn't improve I think it will be :winter: for me, instead of a training ride outside.
Road up to Palomares Rd today, both ways. Made it before the rain came in, good times.
