Touring - Best shuttle transport from Cumberland Md to Mckeesport Pa ??

My wife and I are considering a four day ride on The Great Allegheny Passage sometime in late spring or early summer.
I'm just wondering what my best option is for a ride back to Mckeesport to retrieve the car and trailer.
I will have to drive to Cumberland to pick up the trike, far too large to take on a train, bus or shuttle.
Tried the Greyhound site, but they don't seem to serve Cumberland.
Any help appreciated.

I suspect the easiest and cheapest option would be to rent a car for one day in Cumberland, drive back to McKeesport in the rental, and then drive back separately to Cumberland. If you didn't visit Fallingwater while biking because of the hills, you can do it when you drive back to McKeesport.

This was going me my suggestion. We used them last summer. A bit unprofessional but reliable.

It might be a bit expensive for 2 people. Consider riding all the way to Robinson Twp either up the Montour Trail or through the city.

I live 5 miles from the airport where you can rent a car. PM me. If our schedules match up I can give you a lift or act as tour guide through the city to my place. The Montour Trail Route is possible but I would somehow need a lift to Mckeesport or camp out in Dravo the night before. It is only 30 miles from Mckkesport to my place over streets but another 60 or so back up the Montour. A hundred mile day is a bit rough. :)

In '08, four of us used River Outfitters out of Harper's Ferry to carry our four recumbent bikes, gear, and us from Arlington, Va to Mckeesport. We were very pleased with their service and highly recommend them.

Greyhound does not stop in Cumberland that I know of. Amtrak does, but you can't load/unload luggage because it's an unmanned station. Depending on when you are going, I can take you up there if you give me gas money. I live in Cumberland.

Do you have a pickup or can you pull a trailer? He needs to haul a trike back. So far plans are for him to drop the trailer at my place in Robinson (near airport).

If you can't haul the trike, then one idea would be for him to drop the car and trailer in Cumberland then you bring him back here to start the trip.

Of course here he has a fairly secure place to park car and trailer in my townhouse community parking lot. Is there a fairly secure place for him to leave his trailer and car?

Yep, I have a pickup so I could take a trike or two.

On your second question... most people who park here and do the trail park under I-68 outside of the downtown area. It's public parking and free. They say it's safe and have had no issues there yet. I suppose if it's just for a few days, he could park at my house. It's safe. Or I could just drive them and the trikes back up there in the truck.

Spinnaker - Matt was kind to shuttle me back (with Ghidrah, the terror-trike) to the car after my ride down the "Glide" with The Historian. He's a great guy!

Matt - I'm in your debt for taking the time to shuttle me back to the car... I took my husband down the Glide in September and this time remembered EXACTLY where I parked.

Dan - I have left my car in Cumberland for a few days parked under the I-68 without incident.
