Given it's used, and it's at the LBS getting checked up on, but still :D :D :D

Got a Trek 1100 (54cm), been heavily used as a commuter, but the frame is solid, and the gearing looks solid as well. The rear derailer seems to possibly need the cogs on it replaced, needs new handlebar tape, and needs pedals....but the rims are striaght, the tires are brand spanking new...and it fits!!!!

Look out SJ....the slightly-crazy land rocket is about to take off! :p

Bicycle Express, it's a very small shop, but I like the folks who run it. Also helps that they are 3 blocks from where i live.

It was a funny story....I was searching for over a month now for roadbikes, and actually networked like there was no tomorrow....i practically talked to at least 8 shops to find one my size and price range....none of them met it...I almost gave up and was trying to get the extra $150 to get a brand new roadbike...then when I went in to make the order...a guy has this Trek 1100 he wanted to get fixed for him....turns out he was WAY too tall for it (6'3" for a 54cm bike....), so he mentioned he might sell it....at that point I asked him what he wanted...neight of us had any idea...then I jsut said $100....done.

So nearly a month's worth of research ends at a chance occurance at the LBS....and to think I just decided to drop in to buy one at the spur of the moment too :)

cool cool... i normally go to the off ramp in santa clara. but there is one called ST bicycle that is nearby my house... but i'm kinda intimidated by them... cuz they keep asking me about my bike and when i tell them.. they just have an odd look. oh well... kinda makes me not want to spend money there.. lol

but great find for $100... post up some pic after it's done!

sure will, If I end up liking the bike enough, I might get the paint redone...since the stock finish is a bit scratched up, and is chipping off at the bottom of the chainstays....yep, already checked them myself, no cracks, so I guess it was just the previous owner not being very nice with his storage habits. Either way I got it to be reliable and to give me a feel of roadbiking, and not be a total theft magnet.

...I am thinking if I do repaint it, urban camo w/ clearcoat might look rather good...but I woill prolly go cheap and pick the metallic color my 81 buick regal came in....beautiful shade of red....plus I think you can get enamel made in that color cheaply.
