I've ridden sections of L and S. PA Bike Routes are generally well signed. They often have broad shoulders. However, sometimes they don't, and they can be very hilly. The Bike Routes are a good choice, but bring a map and consider other local roads and trails in the course of your trip.
I'd suggest using the Perkiomen Trail for 20 car-free miles of riding, but it's a little far from the L route.

Hey Trek5000,
I have ridden the A, D, S, and G routes. possible the E. They are all in GREAT shape with very random and minor detours here and there, however not always clearly or easily marked. More the most part the routes involve a lot of Rail 2 Trails paths which run along the old train tracks for coal and steel. There are towns and sections that you ride on the road and for the most part the trails are CLEARLY marked every place it needs to be. Enjoy the ride, the PA Bike Routes are fantastic.
